Outlander Movie?

My friend Kris got me started reading Diana Gabaldon.
I will love her forever for that, but not for that alone.
I've been reading the Outlander series.
I need to talk about it.
If you haven't read it, just forget about this post.
For those of you who have read these books....
they are talking about making a movie based on this series.
Randall Wallace, the writer of BraveHeart, will the writing the script.
I'm just curious....who do you see playing Jamie and Claire?
I've read that Katherine Heigl is considering the part of Claire.

Please NO!!  Say it's not so!
Some say they would like to see it played by Rachel Weisz.
I think she's too young for the part.
Possibly Julia Ormond.
I like Alex Kingston, she already has the accent and the curly hair.
As for Jamie, this one is difficult.
Gerard Butler could run with this part if he were only 15 years younger.
He makes me swoony.
Kevin McKidd?
The right coloring but is he sexy enough?
Jason Lewis?
David Denham?
Chris Hemsworth?
I don't think I'll see the movie.
I like the couple as they appear in my head.
Which actors would you like to see play these parts?
If you haven't read the books, run, don't walk to the bookstore to get them.
And read them in order.
Don't get them at the library like I did.
I just ended up buying them anyway.
They Are That Good!

I have never heard of this series. I look forward to checking it out. Thanks for the heads up!

The one "book into movie" story that fries me is when they totally changed to ending of the Horse Whisperer. Who does that ?!

I know what you are talking about, after seeing Cider House Rules, I knew the book should have been left alone!

Thanks for the book advice,, this sounds wonderful,, I can't say who I would like in the movie,, I've not read it yet but I find I'm always disappointed when the movie follows a book, I like you,, create my own vision of the characters and places in my mind and the movie always fails to meet my expectations with the exception of one,, the movie about Beautrix Potter ,, I did enjoy that one and wished it went on and on,,, I hope the suns shining on you today,,

Say it ain't so!

I can't tell you how much I LOVE those books. I am about 200 pages away from finishing the 7th one. (The 8th one should be released next year). I have re read all but this 7th book.

The characters in these books are like REAL people to me. Jamie has got to be the sexiest man that has ever been dreamed up don't you think? And Claire... oh I just LOVE her. Katherine Heigl... NO NO NO. She just can't pull it off. None of those women can. And the men, no. No. Not enough smolder (smoulder?) do play Jamie.

I'm putting my foot down. It can't be done. A movie CAN NOT be made. It would ruin it.
Gabaldon is a genuis.
I want to go to Scotland and find Jamie and Claire now.

Which book are you on???

I rarely like the movies made from my favorite books. The library finally got around to getting Outlander for me. I'll start it with that book and when I don't finish (as expected) I'll get your copy if that's still OK.

Oh my.....a movie? I think it would pale in comparison to the books. The characters in our head are so much more vivid and a alive. I need to REread the ones I have read, and then read the last one. Such good books! After these Holly, go read Sacajawea!!

I know that I'll just end up picking apart the movie, getting madder and madder by each scene that I know will be completely changed and so not what's going on in my head when I'm reading them that it's probably best I stay far, far away from it. But who are we kidding? I'll probably be in the front row the day it comes out. lol I didn't have anyone in mind when I was reading it except for Laura Prepon for Briana. And now I think she's a bit old for that role, anyway.
