Pay No Attention to the Mess on My Craft Table Behind Me

I've had some time on my hands today.
My husband is watching Nascar.
I just found my webcam for the first time.
When left to my own devices I tend to either get myself in trouble or make a fool out of myself.
Both are entertaining for me.
If my boss ever discovers what a fool he was to hire me and lets me go, I'm thinking I might throw my hat into the acting/modeling ring.
Seriously, can it really be that hard?
Let's see.

Family Members from the Delusional Side

So I get this call yesterday.
It's from Meme.
She's Tammy's mom.
Meme is my husband's cousin.
We talk on the phone.
She reads my blog.
I've never met her.
She's one of my best friends.
She is also delusional.

Meme:  Hey, it's Meme.  I was just in this cute shop?  And they had this bowl thing?  With these fishing lures inside?   And some feathers?  And you should make that.

Me:  What?

Meme:  You get one of those glass bowls?   And you put some fishing lures inside?   And some feathers?  And you can give it to Brian for Christmas.

Me:  Um.....ok.   I have no idea what you're talking about.

Meme:  Oh....Ok, I'll go back and take a picture and send it to you.

Me:  Why don't you make it and then send me a picture of what you've made.

Meme:  No, hang on.  Here's Tammy.

Tammy:  You haven't been blogging.

Me:  I haven't had anything to say.  You haven't posted anything in 3 weeks.

Tammy:  I have nothing to write about.  My life is boring.

Me:  And mine is so exciting?

Tammy:  BUT YOU QUILT!!

Me:  Tammy, I have never quilted in my life.  I have no idea what you're talking about.

Tammy:  Oh, okay, here's Mom.

Meme:  So are you going to make that thing with the fishing lures?

Me:  Okay, sure.  Love ya, bye.

Who are these people????

Clutter

I have been kidnapped and replaced with an insanely productive person.
I've been going through this house,
room by room
closet by closet
drawer by drawer
and weeding out all things unnecessary.
It seems I have quite a bit of unneccessaries around here.

At the same time,
I'm also sifting through my thoughts.
I have unnecessaries in my head too.

Sometimes life just moves along day by day,
moment by moment,
and the clutter accumulates.
I'm taking some time to sift through the garbage in my head.
Work on some issues that have been left unchecked.
Pray about the things that matter.
Let go of the things that don't.
There are so many things in my head that don't matter,
yet I just keep dusting them off and putting them back.

So today, I will finish with my last closet.
Load up some boxes with all my clutter and
head to GoodWill to drop them off.

I'm going to put my brain clutter at the bottom of one of the boxes.
And then I'm going to walk away.

Crop Girls Saturday Class

I live right around the corner from the cutest little shop in town.
It's called Crop Girls.

It's a scrapbooking/card making shop and I love it.
They have classes for card making and I try to get in on as many as I can.
The three women that own the store are as sweet as can be.
Sometimes I just go in to browse and chat.
You can always count on seeing a friendly face.
They have a very large selection of adorable paper products.
And goodies to choose from.
Today I took another class in card making.
So many fun ladies.
So many cute cards and notebooks.
Here are just a couple that I made today.
It's a great way to spend a Saturday!
If you live in the area, stop by and see for yourself.

I Didn't Need to See That.

Yesterday, Katie went with me to run some errands.
We decided to stop at a thrift store.
I was looking at an old piece of furniture when I heard her voice come from around the corner.
"Jesus is in the trash!"
"What??!!"
I came around the corner and this is what we saw.

Oh man!  I didn't need to see that!
I didn't sleep too well last night.
I'm thinking I might need to go back and stage a hostage negotiation.
It kind of puts the whole "WWJD" thing into perspective since that's exactly what He did for me.

Quite Possibly the Only Serious Post I'll Ever Write

Every member of my family has battled cancer in one form or another.
I lost my mother to cancer.
My sister is a breast cancer survivor.
My father is fighting for his life right now.

My daughter, Katie, has joined up with the American Cancer Society with Relay for Life.
She will be running/walking to help raise money for cancer research on
April 30 - May 1st.

If anyone would be interested in making a donation it would be greatly appreciated.

It was Great Being Your Friend

Blogging has opened a window to a whole new life for me. I’ve gotten to know many of you in a completely different way. I feel like I know you without having actually met you. You have become my friends. I’ve received comments from people stating that they wish we could meet face to face. I feel I should be honest here and tell you all that I may be a tad crazy. This may change your opinion of me. Some of you may change your email addresses. You may stop blogging all together just to hide from me.

Highlights of my day yesterday.
Yesterday morning I woke up early and went out onto the back patio. I saw our gray cat laying on one of the chairs and went to pet her. It was not our cat but my husband’s shoes. I pet my husband’s shoes.

After running to the store yesterday, I pulled up in front of the mailbox to check my mail. I sat in the car and hit the button on my garage door opener as I pointed it at my mailbox. It didn’t open.

I just thought you should know.

It was Supposed to be Turquoise

Several months ago a dear friend of mine, Connie, gave me an antique chair.
She told me I could do anything I wanted with it since it held no sentimental value for her.
I like to tell people that I refinish furniture.
I like to tell them that I make beautiful new things out of old falling apart things.
Apparently, I like to lie.
I do have several pieces of furniture in my garage that I've bought at thrift stores just for this reason.
So, see, it's sort of true.
Except that I haven't done anything with them yet.
So it's sort of not true.
Yes Dad, sort of not true is a lie.

Since the weather has warmed up a bit here, I figured it was time to do something with that chair.
I was planning on painting it turquoise but decided to be unoriginal and paint it yellow like Kris and Genn.  No, Kris and Genn are not yellow, but their chairs are.
Much more sunny and happy.
I had found the strawberry decal months ago in the bargain bin at Michael's for 10 cents.
Heading out now to plant more flowers.

Just Got Back

We had a wonderful time getting out of town.
Stopped for breakfast and a little sightseeing on the way.

The cabin was wonderful!
I was the first to catch a fish.  I was excited, as you can tell.
He did a lot of this.
And this.
While I did a lot of this.
And now I have a lot of this.

I'll be Back.

We have been playing cards with the same great friends almost every Saturday for the past year.
We play Shanghai Rummy for a penny a point.
Yes, we gamble.
Don't judge me.
All the money made that evening goes into a pot and we have enough in there for the four of us to take a mini-vacation.

Tomorrow morning we are heading out for a much needed weekend getaway.
I am so looking forward to it.

We are renting a cabin in Pinetop Arizona on Rainbow Lake.

If you read this and you know where I live, please don't steal my house while we're gone.
We're taking our tailgate with us.

And His Name is Daniel

I'll bet most of you don't know that I have a son.
I never post about him.
He's been living across town for the past couple of years.
I don't get to see him as often as I'd like to.
He's 21 and his name is Daniel.
I've always called him "Boone".
I'm the only one allowed to call him that.
It's my right.
I birthed him.
Daniel does not like having his picture taken.
He's a good looking kid, but you can't tell, can you?
Show us your face Boone!
Now take off the glasses.
Maybe if I took him to lunch he might let me get a better picture.
This one has no problem in front of the camera.
No idea what this was.
Put your arm around me and look like you love me.
Stop covering your face and just act natural.  Here,  let's pretend like we're drinking.
OH, HEY, let's look at the camera and cross our eyes!
And he's proud to call me his Momma.

I Have Needs.....and wants.

Sometimes a girl has to take a few moments and sort things into two catagories.
Wants and Needs.

Need a new Doormat.

Want a Pretty Quilt.

Want this for cut flowers

Need a house, I pick this one.

Need this Salad again.

Need every single one of her books.

Want to Make these jam charms.

I have a busy day scheduled today.  Appointment with the dermatologist, where they want to burn half my face off.  I have several pre-cancerous spots on my cheeks and a mole that they want to slice off.  I need to do some grocery shopping for a mini-vacation we are taking this weekend.  I need to help my son with his taxes.  I have no idea where I'm going to fit a nap into all of this and that troubles me.
