What the H*E*double hockey sticks?

Reading this post will make you wish you could re-do your Christmas list.

For someone with really short arms?  A really low butt?  I'm confused.

Don't you hate it when you're trying to get a good nights sleep in your sexy negligee and those pesky breasts get in the way?

I can't believe they called it this!

I'm not hating this one so much.

Need a gift for the golfer in the family?

Happy New Year!

I'm kinda mad, or maybe not

UPDATE:  The world is a wonderful place full of beautiful people.  I went to the post office to inquire about the package confusion.  I don't have an apron stealing dolt living in my neighborhood.  Apparently, just a mail carrier that can't use his scanner.  It's on it's way to Florida!

I'm confused, and a little scared, and kinda mad, but mostly confused.

Remember the apron I made for my sister?

Well, yesterday I printed out the shipping label, put it in a box and set it out by the front door.  I went online to the post office and requested a pick up.  I went out for a couple of hours and when I came home the package was gone and a note was stuck in the front door from the mail carrier.  It was just a confirmation that my package was picked up.  (Or so I thought)  This morning I got up and found an email from the post office stating that the pickup was attempted but unsuccessful because the package was not found.

I re-read the letter that was left in the door and now I can't tell what it means.  It is a form letter with boxes to be checked with the status of the pickup.  My check mark is right in between "Picked up" and "Not picked up."

I think someone stole my apron.  Or maybe not.

So, Kelly, if you get it, I hope you like it.  It isn't great but it was the best I could do.

If you don't get it, then it was the most amazing apron ever and would have probably had magical powers that could have taken your cooking skillz to a whole new level.
I made this one yesterday.
I really love the colors in the stripes.
How sick are you of seeing aprons on this blog?

While I was sewing this, the sewing machine all of a sudden made this horrible banging noise and the needle broke and flew out and hit me in the corner of my eye.  I could have been blinded for life by a sewing machine.  I would have had to make up a better story though about how I got blinded because it would be just too dumb to tell that one.

I was cleaning the living room yesterday and I found this stuff under the cushions of the couch:
Could I have ever imagined this time last year that I would be taking a picture of the "trail mix" in my couch and posting it on the wide world web?  You're welcome.

Went to the thrift stores by the house to look for some lace and rick rack yesterday (this is when the apron stealing dolt made off with my package...or the mailman).  I found this box of vintage Christmas light bulbs under a bunch of junk.  They were marked 50 cents and they were having a 75% off Christmas sale so I bought these for 13 cents.  I saw some for sale on Etsy for $20 - $30.  Score!

I really want a new camera.  My point and shoot is just not cutting it anymore.  Unfortunately, it's just not in my budget right now...and probably will never be.
She's so pretty, let's just look at her for a minute.  Shhh, looking, not talking.

Keepin it Real

This is what happens when you decide to start making an apron and a pot holder in your kitchen because you don't have a sewing room.  Then your daughter decides she wants to cook pot stickers for dinner and make cake balls.  Then your husband says he wants a grilled ham and cheese sandwich.

It was a mess, let me tell you!
But so worth it.
Apron
and cake balls!

These were sooooo good.  She made them with german chocolate cake and frosting.  To die for!
Have a loverly day!

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

Good Morning!  Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Festivus, etc.  The results are in for the giveaway for the $25 gift certificate from CSN stores.  Woot Woot!

The process of selecting the winner began this morning in the wee hours.  (Wee...that word cracks me up)

The bodyguard was called in.
The numbers were tallied.

It was a long, arduous process, let me tell you!

Shall we take a minute to look at another angle of that bodyguard?
Yes, he seems to be doing a fine job.

Just before the drawing took place, the crowd became unruly.  I was unsure we would be able to continue, but the bodyguard held them at bay.  Ok, you talked me into it, one more look.

What were we doing again?
Oh, yes, the winner!

After a lot of hard work and super great computerish technology, which would take me hours to explain to you, the name was randomly drawn.

And the winner is:

I love Laraine's blog and have since the day I started reading it.  She has an amazing sense of humor and leaves the best comments.  You have to check her out here at Larainy Days

So Laraine, congrats!  I'll shoot an email off to you with the info for the gift certificate.

Thanks to all that entered and followed me.

What's that you say?  One more?  Really?  Ok, but only because I love you all.

Ok girls, this is getting to be ridiculous, aren't you ashamed of yourselves?

December Birthdays

This post scares the bejeezes outta me.  I have the two most beautiful nieces in the world.  Both of their birthdays are in December.  They both live so, so far away.  I rarely get to see them but occasionally I steal their pictures from their Facebook pages.  I wanted to wish them both a wonderful birthday and let them know that I love them and miss them with all my heart!

This is my gorgeous niece Lindsay with her daughter Madison.  Lindsay's birthday was on December 23.  Happy belated birthday, Honey.
I wanted to also share a sweet picture of both of her kids.

Madison and Jaxson, could they be any cuter?

This is my other niece Lauren.

Isn't she amazingly beautiful?  Her birthday is on December 31.  Happy Birthday Sweetheart!
These pics just scare the heck out of me.  They are such amazing women and I couldn't be prouder to have them a part of my family.

Love you girls!

God Bless you One and All!

Greatest man in history, named Jesus, had no servants, yet they called Him Master. Had no degree, yet they called Him Teacher. Had no medicines, yet they called Him Healer. He had no army, yet kings feared Him. He won no military battles, yet He conquered the world. He committed no crime, yet they crucified Him.. He was buried in a tomb, yet He lives today. Merry Christmas Everyone!

Apron and giveaway reminder

Do you remember a while back when I went and bought all that fabric at Goodwill?  No?  Seriously, I told you I went to Goodwill and purchased a ton of sheets and pillowcases, remember?  No?

See I knew I told you.

Anyway, I sifted through everything the other day and ended up making this out of one of the pillowcases.  It took me about 2 hours because my new sewing machine and I are not yet on a first name basis.

Believe it or not, the second picture is not photo shopped to make my butt look bigger.  It really is that big.  I am a curvaceous full figured hunk of woman.  (Hear me roar?)

This little apron was fun to make and not too difficult.  I'm going to do a few more in the next couple of weeks.  Maybe I'll add a pocket (pockets are scary).

Also, don't forget to go here to enter the CSN gift certificate giveaway.  The drawing takes place on Monday, January 27th.

This could be yours for only 3 easy payments of....ok, it's really free.

I was recently contacted by CSN stores asking if I'd like to do a giveaway!  Well, does Santa wear reindeer boxers??!!!  (Yes, the answer is YES!!)  Don't ask.

CSN is a virtual mall that has over 200 stores.  I've been looking around in there and I have to say that even though they don't have an Orange Julius or Hot Dog on a Stick, I much prefer this way of shopping than going to an actual mall.  They have everything from furniture to modern decor.

The gift certificate is for $25 to be spent at any of their stores or can be applied to a larger purchase.

The rules are easy.

1)  You must live in the US or in Canada.
2)  You must leave me a comment at this post.
2)  You don't have to but it would be nice if you would "follow me".

Look at some of the great items they offer!

Woven St. John Stripe Indoor / Outdoor Rug - RDB120

Le Creuset

I'll hold the drawing on Monday, December 27th.

UPDATE:  IF YOU LEAVE A COMMENT AND ARE NOT LINKED TO A BLOG, PLEASE MAKE SURE I HAVE SOME WAY OF CONTACTING YOU.

Good Luck!

Microwave Peanut Brittle

I've been making this candy for years and it's a quick and easy recipe.  Makes a nice gift.

It's really important that you read this recipe all the way through before you start.  You have to move pretty quickly because the whole thing sets up really fast.  I make sure I have everything measured and ready to go before I begin.

Here's what you need:

1 c. sugar
½ c. light corn syrup
1 c. spanish peanuts
⅛ tsp. salt
1 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda

I use my 8 cup Pyrex measuring bowl for this because it has a handle and it's much easy to pour out using the handle when it's hot!  And Man, Oh Man, does it get hot!

Butter a cookie sheet and place in an oven warmed to 150 degrees for about 5 minutes. This will help the peanut brittle to spread easier.

Combine sugar and corn syrup in a glass microwave safe bowl ( I spray mine with Pam first so it's easier to clean up). Mix well and microwave on high for 4 minutes.

Remove bowl and stir, add peanuts and salt and stir again. Place back in the microwave for 3 minutes.

Stir in butter and vanilla and microwave for 1 minute.

Remove the bowl and stir in the baking soda and immediately spread thinly onto the cookie sheet.

Cool and break into pieces. Store in an airtight container.

Cook the full amount of time or the brittle will come out chewy.

Keep out of reach of husband if you're giving these as gifts.

Remember what I told you? Forget it.

We tell our children:

"Don't talk to strangers!"

"If a stranger offers you candy, what should you do?  NOO!!  You run and scream and find Mommy!"

A stranger is never allowed to touch you!"

And then we do this to them:

Is it just me or is this a really weird tradition?
