I had just gotten off the phone with my son who called to say “Happy Mothers Day”.
I went outside where my husband was on the patio.
Me: That was Daniel. He wants to take me to lunch on Wednesday.
Brian: You don’t need my permission.
Me: Ummm…..I know that. I wasn’t asking, I was telling you that I’m going to lunch with Daniel on Wednesday.
Brian: Okay, you don’t need to tell me things.
Me: Okay. I don’t need to tell you things? This is a weird conversation.
Other than that strange dialog, everything seemed fine.
Being a woman, I picked this conversation apart in my head.
Here’s what I came up with.
Either:
1) He does feel I was asking his permission. (like I would do that)
2) I tell him too many things that are inconsequential (I talk too much?)
3) He was burnt out from trying to be nice on account of Mothers Day.
4) It was perfect fishing weather and he was home because of aforementioned holiday.
Please check with your husbands for me. I'm in need of a Manslation.

From my experience men don't deal well with what they would consider the inconsequential things of life. If they can't "fix" it, they don't want to know about it. It's a lifetime learning process for us I think ... at least it's taking me a lifetime!!
# 4 FOR SURE!!!
haha I don't have a husband (I should probably work on that tho hah?...LOSER) j.k But I think #4 too lol
Hope you had a great mothers day!
XO
geesh. hard one. i think he might have just been having a bad moment? cause i'm pretty sure my hubby and i have had the same exact conversation. and he was just a little bit ticked at the time. and i'll work on getting that camel pic.
When Rick makes comments like that he's already done something he didn't tell ME and he feels guilty. So he says, "You don't have to tell me stuff" meaning "I don't have to tell you everything either." I'm definitely not sure. It could be # 4 or Brian was just in a pissy mood. Or all of the above. Don't try to figure 'em out. They have no idea of which they speak. They're mostly decorative!
My husband will call me from work to tell me he is traveling downtown to work for the afternoon. I really could care less but he feels the need to share just in case. I will do the same. If I am working out in the field somewhere I let him know, just in case. So if anything does happen to pop up or there is a life or death situation we know where to locate each other.
I'm thinking it could be 2, 3, 4,, ,, just from my own experience.I know I talk too much and he has a built in man filter,, he just hears what he feels is important and the rest goes who knows where.thanks for stopping by my blog today ,, you always make me smile,,
My husband also asks if it's OK to go certain places like on the way home or something...I don't really care either and he doesn't need to ask...but I'm polite and say OK. Who knows what goes on in the head of a man! And I have two grown sons to boot...I can never figure them out!!
lol..this is kind of funny because you are asking for the husband's opinion and all the wives are giving their interpretation of what the opinion would be...which is pretty much the way we do it..
All of the above....I get the same thing here. In about that order.
That's why talkin' to girls makes SO much more sense. We can jump from topic to topic and know just what the other one is talking about.
I think we're perfect.........
Considering that my dear darlin' spent the afternoon out on the lake fishing with his Dad while his Mom sat in our house waiting for me to get back from a class and then fix dinner for everyone, my guess is #4. BTW, he also said, when I pointed out his questionable Mother attention, "hey, I spent more time with her than my brother!" MEN!!!
A Manslation! HAHAHAHAHAHA!
Holly you crack me up!
I believe your #3 and #4 of your analysis might be correct.
I'll ask my man and get back to you. ;)
Im thinkin #4 too.....lol
I have observed in my time (sound old don't I? but I am not really, 50+ is the new 30) that when they say something like that, when you have just told them that someone ELSE is doing something nice for you, they feel a bit jealous/guilty and don't really want to know, so they pass it off like it is no big deal, and why did you waste your own oxygen to say those words. Then throw in a little, bit of everything else and you just about got it.
I asked my huband!!! He said "they're old arent they?" Haha! I said not old just that you could be our parents! But he said your husband just really doesnt care what you do. Plain and simple. There is a true manslation for you.
