Today is Not Friday

This morning while sitting on the patio enjoying
a nice cool breeze and a cup of coffee
I announced to my Dear Husband, “It’s Friday!”

He gave me a strange look.

I then launched into a tirade.

“What??!! You think just because I don’t work
as hard as you do that I can’t enjoy it being Friday
and look forward to the weekend?!!
I enjoy the weekends just as much as you do,
I may not work all that many hours but I am allowed
to be happy it’s Friday, you know!”

He just smiles and says “It’s Thursday.”

Oh.

Sensitive much?

I think I'm being held hostage by my hormones.
I've been blindfolded, hog tied,
and left in a hot sweaty heap.

I have always had a happy-go-lucky personality.
In the past week I've gone from being
subdued, quiet and morose
to feeling quite spastic and
wanting to slap the smiles off people's faces.
I've been tired and in need of several daily naps.
I've been forgetful.
In the middle of a sentence I completely
forget what I'm talking about.
So I just shrug and make it look like it's just too painful
to discuss.
Whatever it was.

For those of you that do know me,
I can't blame it all on menopause.
I've been confused for a long time.

you'll be fine,, you've had a rough patch,, surely things will smooth out, your bright and shiney you needs to come back to us,,but not till youre ready. Its OK to feel crappy and its OK to share how you feel,, that will help you heal whats troubling you.Maybe just an over load of troubles have triggered your sadness button,, you'll wake up one day and hit the refresh button and you'll be right as rain,,

I blame it on having kids (in my case just the one). My brain hasn't been the same since.

Yes you CAN blame it on menopause...in fact you can blame everything on menopause for the rest of your life. It has to be good for something.

What Laraine said! Totally right. Menopause can be milked till death. And rightfully so.

I, too, blame it on the kids. lol! And I've been like this forever.

I blame it on mentalpause and 112° heat day after day!

Oh YES you CAN blame it on Menopause....it's EVIL! From the age of 52-58 I was just like how you are feeling now. Ask my husband (who is still with me). My personality was altered for 6 yrs by hormones.
But "we" who have been through it understand that you are NORMAL and it'll pass.
But I wouldn't use that photo on your Passport.
Hang in there girl. You'll be fine.
Now, do you want to swipe the big smile off my kisser? I'll be right down. (COMIN: the word verification for today. How appropriate)

Crap, so this is what I have to look forward to as a woman? What if I'm that bad already, does that mean I'kk only get worse? =) That picture is hilarious, btw.

Oh Holly I am so sorry. Poor thing. I have funks every once in a while but I think I had my first hot flash the other day. Not sure since it was hot anyway but I felt like I'd explode if I didn't cool off. My family was all looking at me like I was an alien.
Hope you are back at it and feeling better right away.

Sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes the bug. It really sucks to be the bug. Hope you revert to your butterfly soon. If not...enjoy the ride anyway!

That picture made me a little queezy. I've always felt that disjointed and crumpy way. It is probably a touch of depression, menopause and heat. I started taking fish oil pills. They're supposed to improve memory and mood. I was telling Daughter and she said, "I see that they've done you a lot of good..." and then she laughed evilly. Therefore, I guess I won't necessarily recommend them. But they might work better for you. Hope your mojo changes back to "Happy Holly" soon.

Yes, MENTALpause! That's it!

About the time I quit blaming everything on postpartum depression (somewhere around the time my baby turned 25), I had that first hot flash in the middle of the night and life did a 180 degree turn.

I didn't put up with all that crap for very long before I went to the doctor, told her that I'd read all the warnings, but if she didn't give me drugs, then I'd name her as a co-conspirator to any crime I may commit under the influence of menopause.

Then life returned to somewhat normal.

I have friends who have tried to go through it "naturally" and they are just plain scary crazy. Of course no one has the nerve to tell them that.

Well, I sure hope that I helped cheer you right up. Hope you're enjoying your Friday night.

Holly, if that photo of you is a true and accurate rendering, then I should think that your husband would have a lot more on his mind than helping you out with your day-of-the-week problem.

My mom declares that she had absolutely no problems with menopause. I guess she is telling the truth...but the REST of her family had major problems with her menopause!!! :) I keep reminding myself, "This too shall pass." Just hope I haven't been committed to some institution before that happens!! I LOVE your blog!
