I Would Be Awesome

I’ve been thinking a lot about time traveling lately.
I’m thinking it’s possible.
But I’m not sure.

I am pretty certain, however, that one can’t time travel
to the same time that the person already exists.

For instance, I was born in 1965 and it is now 2011.
I am already here and so I couldn’t travel to 1984
because I already exist at that time.
And I think it has something to do with my atoms clashing,
or something like that.
I can only have so many
“Holly Atoms” in one place at one time.

I would have to either go back before 1965
or go into the future sometime after I’ve died.
But I don’t know when that is yet.
And by the time I found out when that was,
I’d be dead and wouldn’t know.

I could, I guess, go into the future around 2081
since I’m pretty sure I’m not going
to be alive 70 years from now.

But I wouldn’t want to go into the future.
The past is definitely the way to go.
If you travel into the future,
You’d be all stupid.
You would have missed so much.
You’d stare at flying cars and be all like,

“What the hell is that???!!!”

And people on the street would think you
were a drunk, crazy, homeless person.

Nope, the past is totally the way to go.
Because then I could invent the tape measure
or make a caramel macchiato and people would be all,

“Holy Crap! How did you do that?!”

And then I’d be all,
“Oh, it’s just something I came up with.”
All nonchalant like.

That would be awesome.

You know, I’m just full of ideas, all day long
I’m not saying they’re good ideas.
I’m just saying I’m full of them.

Glad you posted this in time for me to read before heading off to work. I would like to go back to the 1800's, cause I think I would be able to hide my butt in a hoop skirt......

I have travelled in time. In 1965 I wanted to know where I'd be in 2011 - and - voila! - here I am! It'd be interesting to go back in time from the historical aspect, but I'd miss all the mod cons i've become used to. And you're right about the future making us look stupid (er) so I guess I'll just have to settle for the here and now. Great post

Now THAT was a 'thinker'.

I don't like feeling stupid, so your take on the Future was a good one. But, maybe there would be cures for wrinkles and stuff by then (you're too young but they're coming), or they would have figured out how to stop wars.

The past would be interesting...you could meet your ancestors. BUT, there wasn't much deoderant back then (or mouthwash), so that could be a problem.

Can you tell us what you're having for breakfast these days to make you want to travel? Or is it the heat?

Forget time travel Holly. Just get in the car and head north, where there will be a Diet Coke with your name on it and you can ponder the past/future.

You're full of it all right--er, full of ideas that is. I can't even venture to Mesa by myself, so I'm pretty sure you can count me out of time travel. The closest I come to that is when I go home to Idaho...hahaha! (only funny if you've lived in ID? Perhaps.) I will have my people talk to your people and we can do lunch this week. I think we both need to get out more. How's the mole or absence there of?

HA!
I am with you Holly.
Maybe it is possible.
Or maybe it's only possible for certain people.
Or maybe it's only possible for Claire and Brianna and Roger. ?

Have you read Time Traveler's Wife?
Seen the movie?
I bet you'd like it. :)

The past is definetly the way to go. I love rambling thoughts such as these.

I often wonder what I would be if I lived in the old west. If I were still in my present single state, I am sure I would have been either a school marm or a saloon girl.
