I'm Crushed

I've always developed crushes very easily.
It's just been a "me" thing.
Before my teenage years, I had crushes on these three.
Bucky Dent

Donny Osmond

Gene Autry

I know, right?
I even remember writing a letter to Gene Autry to invite him to my birthday party.

And then in my teenage years, I developed crushes on

Rex Smith
I still melt like warm caramel over a hot brownie when I listen to this and I wanted to change my name to Jessy.
listen here Simply Jessy

And every single one of my sister's boyfriends except a young man named Frankie, who wore his belt sideways with the buckle on his hip.  I asked him why he was with my sister since he was so obviously gay.
My teenage years were not my best.
Frankie, wherever you are, I apologize for being mean to you and I sincerely hope that you and your husband are happy.

At the ripe old age of 45, I still develop crushes.
Like these guys

Dr. Oz

Dr. Phil

Gerald McRaney

But all in all, I'm so very glad I ended up with this guy.
I "crush" on him every day.

Back Home - Part two

My sister lives in Florida but has a cabin in New Mexico where my father lives.
The town is full of little shops and restaurants.
So we shopped.
And we ate.
Her cabin is just darling.  So cozy.

I tried to take a lot of pictures while I was there but was having some camera issues so most of these pictures were taken from the website where they list their cabin as a vacation rental.
If you might be interested in staying there, let me know and I'll forward the website to you.

This is my sister Kelly and her husband Bill.
They've been married for 30 years.
Or something like that.
Let's talk about Bill for a moment, shall we?
I have never met anyone like him.
He is a sweet, sweet man.
With a love for Jesus.
He listens to rock music so loud that I can feel my teeth vibrating.
He drives really close to the edges of cliffs while I cringe and Kelly scolds him.
He teases me constantly.
And pretends like he doesn't like me.
But he loves me, I know this for certain.
Almost as much as he loves canned banana pudding from a restaurant salad bar.
He chose this particular restaurant based on the fact that they served this.
He is in my top ten favorite people list.
I will let him figure out where he stands in that list.

Kelly and I had a great time together.
Yes, I was in my jammies.  I spent a lot of time in them while I was there.
We also spent a lot of time catching up.
Reading blogs.
Discussing our kids.
Talking about our childhood memories.
And I reminded her of how she tortured me when I was a child.
She has no recollection of any of those memories.
Whatever.
The wildlife is just amazing.
The deer were fun to watch.
They arent' afraid of anyone and would come right up to you.
Kelly fed them Raisin Bran.

And the turkeys.
I wish I had gotten some pictures of the dinners she cooked.
I wish she lived closer and would cook for me all the time.
She made an amazing spicy white bean chicken chili the first night.
And a wonderful avocado black bean salad.

I want to be her when I grow up, but I don't ever think I'll be that grown up.
Kelly is Martha Stewart/Ina Garten
I am Paula Deen/Lucille Ball.
But it's a nice mix.
And I miss her bunches.

I'm home and my camera clickin finger is achin

I had a great time visiting with my Dad, Sally, my sister Kelly, and her husband Bill.
Dad is feeling pretty good right now and Kelly and I had a wonderful time with him.
I love my Dad's house.
He enjoys buying disasters and turning them into beautiful showplaces.
Here are some pics of his home.

It was difficult to get a good picture of the house with the cars in front.
Here are a few pictures of his living room.
Click on the pictures to get a better view.

I love my Dad's decorating style.  He's quirky.

Here are pics of the master bedroom and bathroom.

And the sun room.

The hall bathroom.

And the guest bedrooms.

And another bathroom.

I understand that this is a pretty long post but I would like
to introduce you to the first entry in a long series of mini-posts.

MONDAYS WITH MAX
My father, Max, is retired and I thought it might be fun to check in and see what he happens to be doing with his leisure time.  My Dad can paint, draw, build furniture, create beautiful pieces of art and he can cook like a maniac.  Mondays, however, I will be showing you just a glimpse of some of the little cartoons that my Dad has done in the past.
Here is the first in the weekly series, Mondays with Max.

I'll be back tomorrow to show you what a great time I had with my sister.

It's Exactly Like That...Only Different

Remember this guy?
He's my Daddy.
He rocks my world.

And remember this lady?
That's my sister Kelly.
She's a world rocker too.

I'm off to see both of them.
It's just like the song.

I'm leaving, on a jet plane.
Don't know when I'll be back again.

Well, it's not actually a jet plane,
it's more like an Airbus A-320.
And I will be back on Sunday.

So it's really nothing like that song.

I Need Your Husbands

I had a very strange conversation with my husband yesterday and I need you to get some translation for me. Please ask your husbands what this was all about.

I had just gotten off the phone with my son who called to say “Happy Mothers Day”.

I went outside where my husband was on the patio.

Me: That was Daniel. He wants to take me to lunch on Wednesday.

Brian: You don’t need my permission.

Me: Ummm…..I know that. I wasn’t asking, I was telling you that I’m going to lunch with Daniel on Wednesday.

Brian: Okay, you don’t need to tell me things.

Me: Okay. I don’t need to tell you things? This is a weird conversation.

Other than that strange dialog, everything seemed fine.
Being a woman, I picked this conversation apart in my head.
Here’s what I came up with.
Either:

1) He does feel I was asking his permission. (like I would do that)

2) I tell him too many things that are inconsequential (I talk too much?)

3) He was burnt out from trying to be nice on account of Mothers Day.

4) It was perfect fishing weather and he was home because of aforementioned holiday.

Please check with your husbands for me.  I'm in need of a Manslation.

This Mothers Day - Part Three

I am a mother.
Today is my day.
To celebrate all I have.
And all that the Lord has given to me.
In these two beautiful people.
So loved.
And so loving.
I'm extremely blessed that God gave me the privilege of raising them.
Kate..
Daniel...
I love you both so much more than you will ever know.
Happy Mothers Day to me.

This Mothers Day - Part Two

...and then God Blessed us Again.
Sally had been a friend of my mothers.
She and my Dad fell in love a few years after mom died.
And they were married.
Words can't describe our Sally.
But let me try.
Sally is my own personal Carol Burnett/Erma Bombeck.
She has a sense of humor like no other.
She has a wildcat personality.
She is an avid sports fan and is known to yell louder than anyone at the television.
When she's happy, you know it.
When she's mad, you know that too.
Personally, I love Mad Sally.
Mainly because I've never seen her mad at me.
She's down to Earth.
She tells it like it is.
She pulls no punches.
She loves the Lord.
She tells dirty jokes.
She is a wonderful listener.
She gives great advice if you ask for it.
Anyone who meets her, loves her instantly.
She loves my Dad.
When they got married, I inherited a brother whom I love dearly.
Even if he's mildly "off".
His name is Jon.
I stole this from his Facebook page, he will press charges.
He will read this and leave a comment.
We are to ignore that comment.
Anyway, Sally, I love you for who you are and for what you've brought to this family.
Some much needed laughter, friendship, and love.

Happy Mothers Day, Sally!
The title "step" will never be spoken here.
I Love You!
