Let's Be Random

There are many things I want
to cover today.
Please try to keep up
because I don't have time to repeat myself.

I've been caught twice in the past month
sniffing crayons in the school supply aisle at Walmart.
I open the boxes, I smell, I put them back.
No crime committed.
So why do people look at me all weird?
Some people stop to smell the roses,
I stop to smell the crayons.
It's a smell that brings me back to my childhood.
I have no plans to stop.

I've been in the mood to cook.
In the past two weeks I've made three pots of soup.

Cheesy Chicken Tortilla Soup
Chicken Noodle Soup
Chili

I make a huge pot and then freeze it in individual
serving sizes since I'm home every day and I eat lunch here.

I'm loving all of them.
Today I made the Chicken noodle soup.

It is delicious!
I'd love to give you the recipe but this isn't that kind of blog.
You know, a recipe cooking type blog.
It's a different kind of blog.
I'm not sure what kind.
Don't define me.

Let's keep moving here.

I'm not sleeping too well at night.
And for some reason my doctor is frowning on my
doing a couple shots of Nyquil every night.
I love Nyquil.
I love it to the moon and back.

I'm trying to use Sleepytime tea instead.

It's not nearly as much fun as the Nyquil.
I mean, I hardly feel drunk or disoriented at all.
How's a girl to fall asleep all sober like that?
I don't even think I drooled last night at all.

My husband took a picture of a hummingbird
sitting on our ceiling fan on our back patio.
This man does not read my blog
but would like me to post this picture
for your viewing pleasure.
Check out his mad camera skills.

I keep changing my header and blog template.
I think I like this one.

On another note,
every single pair of pants I own decided to shrink
at the same time.
So I am now expected to not only
give up my Nyquil but also to start
eating healthy and exercising.

Speaking of eating healthy,
I made these today.

Thumbprint Jam Cookies.

100 meaningless points to the person who
guesses correctly the number of these I ate today.

I guess that will do it for me today.

If you didn't eat at least ten cookies, you should be ashamed of yourself and I will have to reevaluate our friendship.

I love the smell of crayons, nothing better than a brand new pack to color with! My pants shrunk too, I think there's something in the water:@)

First of all, thumbprint cookies have fruit in them. Duh! Everyone knows fruit is healthy... The soup looks delicious. (Admit it, Hol, you don't follow a recipe. I know you.) Love your blog background. The hummingbird picture is amazing. You know that I can't comprehend the art of photography. Good job, Brian, who shall never read this. Please pass along my sincere praise. How did you get the word "bird" on the pic? Now that's tricky too. We must lunch and shop. We need to buy some bigger pants. Obviously there's a shrinking epidemic. It's struck here too. I got a little nervous while at the computer doing genealogy and ate a whole package of candy corn. Ugh!! I owe you a birthday dinner. Where to, missy?

Okay, where do I begin? First..if you use a utensil background on your blog, this qualifies you for being a foodie. Now that you know this, you must begin to post all recipes that are delicious enough to repeat!!! That said, the soups and chili look divine! The hummer photo rocks! Go Brian! The cookies...well if you never learn another thing about your pal Kris in California...know that she never met a cookie she didn't like. EVER!!! Looks like a perfect day!!
I miss you...come back!!
Hugs,
Kris

Give up Nyquil...who does this man think he is, A DOCTOR? Sleepytime will never do it Holly, switch to Tylenol p.m.
Soup? Isn't it still like 124 degrees where you live? However, it does look yummy :)
I hate it when my pants shrink, which is the predicament I am now in.
Pass those cookies, please?

That crayons pic is snazzy. love it.

way to go brian on the bird picture! did he read this post to make sure you posted it?
yes, you have food related stuff on your blog now, so yes you must post food recipes now as well. your soups look good.

The cookies look small. I would have eaten 20 and I think you did too!! Nyquil verus Benedryl, Tylenol PM, wine, psychiatry ~ pick your evil! I'm back tracking tonight with all your posts. I need a good belly-laugh, so I started with your blog. Thanks for the smiles you bring to me. Deb

I guess four. As for the soup, it's that time of year except here it has still been hot. Supposed to get down into the 60s with rain by Wed. I am loving it.

Well, Nyquil is the same as Tylenol PM if you look at the chemicals ...get rid of both. you know what you need to do..quit the diet coke after 12:00 noon..at least. ...start running...sorry girlfriend...tough love here...that stuff is not good for you...

My guess is 9 cookies, because everyone else guessed 10 and I don't want to share my hundred points.

The other day Imdisinfected my desk at work and when I sat down to continue working imrested my hand on my chin and could smell the bleach. I sneakily sniffed my hands all day long. It reminded me of being on the swim team in high school. Love it.

Oh dear. I sniff crayons too. I am now worried for myself. You made one of my favorite kinds of cookies! I think I've only seen a hummingbird once. I like your new blog design. That is all.

Wow too much here to comment on, I would say "good job Brian" but yeah he won't read it so why bother right? Cookies 7, cause 3 is a serving and it is easy to convince ourselves that 2 servings is not too much and then we have just one more. That pants thing is a virus, I think I have it too! You COULD post a recipe, it is better than sniffing nyquil.

First of all, I love your blog. Also, I'm a Hoosier as well. To be really random, I've always wondered why all of the yards in Arizona have concrete walls all the way around. It seems like it would make it even hotter. Just wondering.......

I head for the Tylenol PM when I know I won't be able to sleep. When I don't want the pain med part, I use a OTC sleep aid like the Equate stuff from Wal-mart. I hate sleepless nights.

So I have never thought to freeze my soup in ziploc bags like that. It would be perfect for me. I work from home too and I get pretty sick of sandwiches. Plus I LOVE home-made soup.

OK..so let's make this quick..I don;t have all day, you know?
1. Love the header and the background - really cute and fresh
2. Yeah, he has some mad skills..
3. I am a soup person..but not a chicken person..but a soup person
4. ahh..thumbprint cookies..sadyly, I am alergic. I break out in fat :-(

Have a fun day and give that photographer a bing 'ol hug!

Maybe you should try melatonin to help you sleep - it's natural and works. I only make thimble cookies at Christmas and fill them with red, green and grape jelly. You probably ate half a dozen of them - I would have. It sounds like you're storing up for winter. Love the idea of freezing individual serving sizes.

Hahaha I love the smell of crayons too! I wouldn't stare at you I'd join you!

I noticed your sleepy time tea says "Extra" I have the regular one. I also like your blue mug, pretty! I have been taking melatonin 30 mins before bed time & it realllly helps minus the dis-oriented feeling so I can fully function & drive to work etc. I'm a fan!

Since we didn't go on our vacation (read my blog post today) I just saw yours. Cute new header and stuff.

Ok, I love the smell of crayons, too. Who doesn't?

Tell Brian/Sam/Fred that he did a nice job of the hummer photo. You can see the birdie nicely!

I'm thinkin' you ate 6 cookies. That is a nice round number (and the cookies are round...theme here). Did I win anything?

I think there is an evil wicked fairy who sneaks in and replaces all our clothes with things that look the same, but are smaller ...... in no way is it related to the amount of cookies we devour!!

omg, you crack me up. IF this isn't a recipe blog, what is with the spoons, forks and knives? HUH?
Nyquil...my doctor just told me to take benadryl. also said some stuff about sleepy time tea and melentonin. I'm with you on the loopy feeling, though. My drug of choice is Tylenol PM.
Your soup looks DELISH.

I like thumbprint cookies with just the thumbprint in them. Since I don't like chocolate or jam that creates a problem. Here's an idea....put the two shots of Nyquil in the little thumbprint. Then you can truthfully tell you doc you just ate cookies.

I'm very weird.

HA HA- I so dig random posts. You have best sense of humor, you crack me up!

That chicken noodle soup looks yummo. I seriously need to make a pot, it's been forever.

My husband swears that Dayquil is the best thing invented since sliced bread. I don't think he has tried Nyquil. Speaking of hubby's, yours really did capture a great shot!

Have a great week!

i do love the smell of crayons...and fresh cut grass. i have been caught leaning down sniffing lawn. awkwwwaarrd.

i have insomnia issues. boo.
it's EXHAUSTING not only physically, but emotionally.
have you tried melatonin to help you sleep? it works sometimes for me.
if that doesn't work then i use unisom. that knocks me out! usually if i take it 3 nights in a row it gets me back in a sleep cycle rhythm.
